Fireclay is a natural mineral material composed of different clays mixed into a pre-fired clay and entirely coated with a water proofing mixture. Fired at 2264°F, the chemical properties of the clays and the glaze are changed so as to become fused which results in a surface that will not chip like a cast iron or porcelain coated sink.
Fireclay is the strongest ceramic available and the non-porous nature resists staining. The durable fireclay material is acid/alkali resistant, scratch resistant, and heat shock resistant. Fireclay can be cleaned with abrasive pads and powders. This sinks contain no lead which eliminates the possibility for rust.
